La montaña entre Cali y California
There seems to be a mountain...separating Cali and California...a mountain of paperwork. Thankfully, the mountain seems to be shrinking.
First of all, thanks for all the congratulations and for your interest in our journey. It means a lot to us. We have gotten a hold of, or started, all of the new updates requested.
I didn't have the time to post a list of everything we need to do until today. If all goes well, we'll be heading to Bogota the weekend of Feb. 10. Keep your prayers going, fingers crossed, candles lit...so that we can meet Pablo Santiago soon, very soon. We are now waiting on:
(1) FBI records
(2) psyc evaluation update
(3) visas to travel to Colombia
Once those documents are in our hands, #1 and #2 need to be notarized, certified and apostilled. They get sent next day to Minnesota (which is where our adoption agency is located). Minnesota sends them to Bogota and Bogota to Cali (where our son is waiting for us). Along with #1 and #2 above we send medical reports, employers' letters and homestudy, with the same seals. The orphanage has to review and approve the documentation they requested to approve our travel date. We already told them when we think we can travel.
Simultaneous with the paperchasing, we've been looking at flights and hotel accomodations. Stay tuned!
Para llegar Cali, se necesita paciencia y una pila de documentos
Gracias a todos los que han seguido al tanto de nuestra odisea. Si nos han visto en los últimos días, saben que hemos andado correteando un papel tras otro. Nuestra meta es poder viajar a Colombia el 10 de febrero. Pasaremos una noche en Bogotá, al día siguiente a Cali y a conocer a Pablo Santiago despues.
Por ahorita, les pedimos sus oraciones para tengamos todos los famosos papelitos en orden.
La visa ya esta solicitada y nos debe de llegar esta semana. En estos días tambien compraremos boletos de avión y estamos viendo si nos hospedaremos en el mismo lugar donde estuvimos cuando recibimos a Lulú o en otro.
Ropa, biberones, silla...lo esencial para recibir al bebé esta listo y lavado (menos empacado). Si nos va bien, hasta el cuarto alcazaremos a pintar. Si no, esperamos que unas hadas madrinas lleguen mientras andamos de viaje y dejen el cuarto bello :-)
Como es medio cansado esto de escribir lo mismo en dos idiomas, a lo mejor a la otra escribimos un día en español y un día en inglés. Nos pueden dejar sus comentarios aquí y nosotros los recibiremos.

LA LLAMADA / THE CALL
Hoy, por fin, despues de una espera, hemos recibido noticias de que un precioso bebe nos espera en Cali, Colombia. Nació el 13 de Octubre del 2006. Los tres estamos loquitos de alegría. Lulú ya llevaba meses prediciendo que era niño y tuvo razón. Más detalles como los vayamos teniendo.

Today we got our call...well, to be more accurate, it was an e-mail message: We have a baby boy waiting for us in Cali, Colombia. He was born Oct. 13, 2006. We are happy beyond words. Lulu's prediction that it would be a boy came out to be true. I will post more details as we have them. For now, the news has to sink in and we have to dig into more paperwork. We wish we could be down in Colomba tomorrow but it can't be that fast.
